An Introduction to the Chief Finance Officer Role

With Karen Howell, Chief Executive at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust

Thank you for your interest in Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and in this significant board position as our Chief Finance Officer (CFO).

I joined the Trust as Chief Executive in June and have been inspired each day by the dedication and commitment of our colleagues.  I am excited about the huge potential that our organisation has to deliver our ambitious programme of recovery and transformation.  This role is a fantastic opportunity to bring your financial leadership skills and experience to make a lasting difference to the health and wellbeing of the people we serve and I am excited to see how your leadership can help us achieve our goals.

This role comes at a critical time as we rebuild our Board and seek to deliver on our Improvement Plan, which outlines the steps we’re taking to address significant failings in our quality, safety and governance.  Although we are still in segment 4 of the National Oversight Framework, we are demonstrating significant progress on our improvement journey and we are looking for an ambitious and collaborative CFO to make their mark; joining our dedicated team as we continue to work in partnership with our system to deliver the transformation that our staff, service users and communities deserve.

I hope this site will provide more background to this opportunity, our vision and values and that you get a good feel for the culture of our team. Please contact our recruitment partners at GatenbySanderson, Steven Levin, Emily Smith or Emma Pickup on steven.levin@gatenbysanderson.com or 07586 702578 to discuss your interest further.

I look forward to meeting you during the process.

Karen Howell OBE, Chief Executive
