Executive Recruitment

"Our new Director of Performance and Strategic Development will work closely with our high performing executive team at a time of ground-breaking change in health and social care services in Greater Manchester."

Neil Thwaite, Chief Executive

Welcome from Neil Thwaite, Chief Executive

Thank you for your interest in joining Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust as our new Director of Performance and Strategic Development.  I hope the information here helps you learn more about our organisation, our achievements, challenges, ambitions and values. We are a provider of a wide range of community, in-patient and specialist mental health services across Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford, Trafford, other parts of the North West and beyond.  With 4,850 staff and more than 140 locations, we are recognised nationally as a leading provider of mental health services with excellent feedback from our service users and recognised by our staff as a top 100 place to work in healthcare.

Our new Director of Performance and Strategic Development will work closely with our high performing executive team at a time of ground-breaking change in health and social care services in Greater Manchester.  We are playing a key role in delivering the Mental Health Strategy across Greater Manchester working with our stakeholders in the public, independent and third sectors as well as with the communities we serve.  We have raised the profile of the Mental Health agenda in the region and the need for parity of esteem with physical health services is recognised.

Following our acquisition of the services of Manchester Mental Health and Social Care NHS Trust last year we embarked on an ambitious programme of clinical service transformation to improve the mental health outcomes for people receiving our services and to support the wider mental wellbeing of Manchester citizens. The Programme is being ‘co-produced’ through active participation from all staff, users, carers, and other stakeholders.

Alongside this transformation we also face a challenging financial environment with significant operational pressures and continued increase in demand for our services.  This role will be key in supporting our continued high performance and our reputation for robust delivery in new developments.  The role has significant autonomy and will lead a wide portfolio including performance, strategy, commercial development, programme management and innovation. It will sustain and enhance the positive outcomes we seek to achieve for our service users and carers.

This will be an exciting role and I encourage you to read more here and contact Michelle Shirley or Emma Pickup at GatenbySanderson on 0113 205 6295 for a confidential discussion.  I look forward to meeting you during the process.

Neil Thwaite
