Description

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust provides a wide range of inpatient and community-based mental health care to people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, city of Salford, Trafford and Wigan and a wide range of specialist mental health and addiction services across Greater Manchester and beyond.  We are one of the largest Mental Health Trusts in England, employing around 6,690 members of staff with c.£523 million annual income, delivering services from more than 109 locations including hospital sites, community facilities and in prisons.  Promoting parity of esteem for mental health with physical health, we are shifting our focus to prevention, early intervention, and resilience in communities, to deliver a sustainable and integrated mental health system across the region through collaboratively working with our partners across the Greater Manchester Integrated Care System.

Accountable directly to Karen Howell OBE our new Chief Executive, this position of Director of Corporate Affairs and Risk Management is a new and key role in our leadership team.  Following high profile failings in our services, we are rebuilding the Board and working with our dedicated colleagues and partners to focus on our improvement, recovery and transformation.  You will be fundamental to our journey.  This is a broad role with responsibility for establishing and maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance as well as leading our communications and marketing functions.  Thriving in a politically complex environment you will play a central role in building strong relationships with our partners, stakeholders and the public and for ensuring strong collaboration between our Board and Council of Governors.

For this pivotal position, we are keen to hear from inclusive and dynamic leaders with a track record of embedding robust governance, assurance and risk management frameworks in comparable and complex health and care settings. You will be a compassionate and resilient leader; with the energy, drive and positivity to support our board’s assurance that our service users and patients receive safe, effective and high quality services.  With strong political acumen, you will quickly build credibility and confidence with the board, Governors, staff, partners, regulators and service users and you will share our passion to work together to improve lives and support optimistic futures.  This is an excellent opportunity to use your energy, skills, and experience to make a lasting difference to the health and wellbeing of people we serve now and in the future.
